I have in the back of my mind two things with every event we attend or activity we do, “I’m making lasting memories,” and “I’m raising someone’s husband and father” (well maybe that’s three things).
My goal is that by 11 they will feel comfortable with cooking full meals. I never force it. I just make it an activity with each meal “level” building upon the last. Tonight, Jacob was the “chopper” and Hudson was the “stirrer.” And, they both got to manipulate the crust for the pot pie! What joy! Ha!
I so love the conversation during our cooking time. Plus, the progression of responsibility each time is such a confidence builder. Such pride your children feel when entrusted with “big things.” I mean, stirring and chopping are HUGE! 🙂
I even trust Jacob now with making eggs all by himself, and they’re good!
What small ways of trusting your little (or big ones) this week have you displayed? I’d love to know!
